What To Expect?
— WHERE DO WE START AND STOP OUR TOUR? —
Chasecations, LLC home base is Fort Worth, Texas. On the day you arrive to Dallas/Forth Worth or Dallas Love Field airport, you will check into your hotel room in Northwest Fort Worth. Chasecations will make these accommodations for your convenience. If you decide to arrive/depart to/from Fort Worth before/after your tour’s “arrival day”/”departure" day,” Chasecations will ONLY be responsible for hotel accommodations for arrival day & the night before departure day.
We will start our Tornado tour the day after “arrival day,” and we will conclude our Tornado tour and make our way back to the Fort Worth hotel the day before “departure day.”
— DAILY SAFETY & SEVERE WEATHER BRIEFINGS —
Everything we do on our Tornado tour is dictated by the weather. We will have daily briefings on the latest and future forecasts, as well as the Tornado chase plan for the current and future days.
— BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER & SNACKS? —
Breakfast, lunches & dinners will be carefully planned while on your Tornado chase tour. SNACKS ARE A MUST-HAVE if you eat throughout the day. Another reminder that everything we do on our Tornado tour is strictly dictated by the weather! You can expect to eat a mixture of hotel food, fast food, and restaurants. You’ll be treated to a variety of chain, mom & pop restaurants, fast food & gas station food. We will make stops at large stores such as Walmart to stock up on waters, ice, beverages, snacks, food & supplies throughout your tour!
YOU ARE PERMITTED TO EAT/DRINK IN THE VAN! (NO OPEN CONTAINER alcoholic beverages allowed in chase vehicle at any time under any circumstances)
— WHEN DO WE STOP FOR RESTROOM BREAKS? —
Perhaps the most methodical part of tornado chasing is knowing when & where to stop for a restroom break. Our clients are pretty accepting to using the restroom whenever we park at a location where restrooms are available. We will make an effort to make our fuel & “pit stops” at gas stations with CLEAN restrooms whenever possible. You are encouraged to utilize our several fuel & “pit stops” throughout your tour to go to the restroom. The only time we will ask our clients to “hold it if possible,” would be during the actual tornado chase where time is of the essence, and when we are trying to avoid any storm danger. Obviously if one of our clients gets sick, and MUST use the restroom, we will accommodate and find a restroom for health purposes. Please be mindful of what you eat AND drink on your tour. The last thing you want to experience is road sickness while hungover, or having to use the restroom constantly after drinking too much coffee, water or drinks.
— WHAT SHOULD I PACK? —-
PACK LIGHTLY! You will be on the road most of the time inside of a comfortable van, however, the more passengers we have, the more luggage we will accumulate. We will also be staying at a new hotel each night, so you’ll have to consider how much luggage you are comfortable carrying back and forth from the van, to the hotel and back. Please keep your wet or bottled products like toothpaste, shampoos, soaps, conditioners, etc inside of a sealed zip locked or waterproof bag to prevent spillage. You will experience pressure highs and lows due to elevation on your tour that could constrict your containers causing spills.
PACK FOR HOT, DRY, COLD, WET & WINDY WEATHER IN MIND! On chase days we’ll spend most of the time in the vans and hoping in and out of the van to take photos & video of severe weather. On sightseeing days, we’ll have the option of spending time outdoors and indoors. We’ll experience high heat and chilly cold weather. A 30 to 40 degree change in weather in one day is not out of the question! We could peak in the 90’s and soon experience stormy wind chills in the 50’s. You could get wet, sweaty, dusty, muddy or dirty.
Here’s a general list of what you should pack at a minimum: Outdoor & indoor clothing, duffle bag, jackets, sweaters, outdoor sneakers, glasses/sunglasses, hats, hygiene, ,feminine products, cameras, video cameras, accessories & SNACKS! *** Don’t forget your prescription medications & any over the counter medicines you take for nauseous or illness *** (NO FIREARMS ALLOWED IN CHASE VEHICLE AT ANY TIME UNDER ANY CIRUMSTANCES)
